I
,I
'1

I
I
I

Jim and Pam Deal
April 6, 2O00

Ramsey Planning Commission
15153 Nowthen Blvd N.W.
Ramsey, MN 55303

Ace Solid Waste Conditional Use Permit

Box 159
Anoka, MTnnesota 55303

To Whom it May Concern:

We are in receipt of a letter advising us of a proposed transfer station for Ace Solid Waste. We would
like to advise you that we are vehemently opposed to such an exception being made to the current city
expansion plan. We would like to be put on .record as being totally opposed to the issuance of this
conditional use permit.

We not only feel it would negatively effective the value of our property but also do not see any benefit
for the City of Ramsey. We feel that a business like this should be located outside of a populated area.
Surely there must be land available in the City of Ramsey where such a waste transfer station could be
located outside of the newly expanding Sunfish Lake Blvd area.

We also have questions on how any 'hazardous waste issues are going to be handled. Details relating
to this issue were sketchy and no environmental impact statements were enclosed. This is a major
concern for all of the citizens of Ramsey and should be addressed.

We were in the process of making an offer on a tract of land in the area of the proposed conditional
use. Obviously, if this permit is granted and we would have a waste transfer station adjacent, we will
not move forward with the pumhase because of the effect that this type of business would have on
market values of the surrounding areas. I have also talked to some of the landowners and one of them
stated that if this permit is approved, he will be moving.

When we built our building, city officials assured us that the expansion of the area would be light
industry and we feel that ifa conditional use permit is granted the direction of the expansion for this
area will be moving in the wrong direction. As the area stands now, all the businesses conform to the
current city plan and the area is very attractive to new business. However, with a waste transfer
station located in the area, that image will be severely damaged.

Once again, we would like to be put on record as opposing the issuance of a conditional use permit to
Ace Solid Waste.

Sincerely,

nd Pamela S. Deal
A¢ljoined Land Owners '

JDD/PSD:vjk

139
