-8- <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Gamec, seconded by Councilmember Anderson, to recommend that City <br />Council adopt a resolution ending the probationary period for Rhonda Heryla, Human Resources <br />Manager and granting her the status of regular full-time employee effective August 28, 2000. <br /> <br />Further discussion: Councilmember Anderson expressed concern that she had 'thought the <br />Council had given direction previously to staff that they would like to review all performance <br />reviews of upper management employees. Councilmember Zimmerman ageed, stating that he <br />felt the Council should review upper management performance reviews. Councilmember <br />Hendriksen stated it was his recollection that the direction that was given was to review <br />performance reviews of Department Heads. Assistant City Administrator Moore-Sykes noted <br />that the Human Resources Manger position is not considered a Department Head position. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec' and Chairperson Anders~n. Voting No: None. <br />Absent: None. <br /> <br />Case #2: Authorize Hiring of Receptionist/Secretary <br /> <br />Human Resources Manager Heryla stated that following Dawn Allen's resignation on August 28, <br />2000, from the Receptionist/Secretary position, staff received Council approval to resume 'the <br />hiring process using the existing pool of applicants. The Human Resources Manager contacted <br />six applicants and offered each of them an interview on September 11, 2000. The interviews <br />were conducted by a panel consisting of the Assistant City Administrator, and the Human <br />Resources Manager. Based on those interviews, staff recommended the hiring of Lana Howell. <br />for the position of Receptionist/Secretary and naming Holly Madden as an alternate. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Gamec, seconded by Councilmember Anderson, to recommend that City <br />Council author/ze the hiring of Lana Howell for the position of Receptionist/Secretary at an <br />annual salary of $24,794 with two weeks vacation, and naming Holly Madden as alternate. The <br />hiring would be contingent upon successful completion of background checks and employment <br />and drug screening. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: May6r Gamec and Chairperson Anderson. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #3: Authorize Hiring of Public Works Maintenance Worker <br /> <br />Human Resources Manager Heryla stated that following' Dan Holman's resignation on August <br />21, 2000, from the Public Works Maintenance Worker position, staff received Council <br />authorization to resume the hiring process.
