· Assists in the maintenance of the Clerk's Index System. <br /> <br />Elections: <br />Administers the election process, interpreting and applying election statutes and Secretary of State rules, insuring <br />compliance will all election laws and procedures. <br />· Provides required notices for each regular and special election. <br />· Recruits and trains election judges. <br /> <br />· Supervises operation of election equipment, conducts diagnostic testing, coordinates maintenance and <br /> programming revisions. <br />· Administers voter registration and supervises maintenance of voter registration records according to State Voter <br /> Registration System. <br /> <br />· Oversees candidate filing, Campaign Financial Reporting, and Ethical Practices Requirements. <br /> <br />· Administers and oversees absentee voting. <br /> <br />· Compiles election results and summary reports, transmits results to County, State and City officials, media and <br /> conduct election recounts. <br />· Assists with preparation ofelectionbudget. <br />· Administers local, state, and national elections to ensure that elections conform to all current statutory <br /> requirements. <br /> <br />KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED <br />· Knowledge of the regulations, procedures and practices relating to the City Council and publication of official <br /> documents. <br />· Knowledge of City ordinances and policies. <br /> <br />· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with department heads, other governmental <br /> officials, staff, and the general public. <br />· Ability to operate election equipment <br />· Knowledge of modem office equipment, practices and procedures. <br /> <br />· Knowledge of election laws. <br /> <br />· Knowledge of liquor laws pertaining to licensees and bonds. <br />· Ability to work as a team member. <br /> <br />DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE <br />· Business school graduate, AA Degree, BA Degree. <br />· Experience with computers and programs such as Excel, Word, e-mail, InterNet. <br />· Five years experience in city administration. <br />· Two years experience as a City Clerk or completion of Municipal Clerk Institute program. <br /> <br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS <br />· High school degree with additional course work in related field. <br />· Shorthand/speed writing at 90 words per minute. <br />· One year of experience in transcribing dictation. <br />· Must be able to type 60 words per minute. <br />· Two years experience in a city administrative position. <br />· One year experience in municipal elections. <br />· Experience with office management, supervision. <br /> <br />EXTENT OF SUPERVISION OR GUIDANCE PROVIDED <br />Some supervision provided by the City Administrator and Assistant City Administrator, but has considerable <br />opportunity to work independently and provide independent judgement in matters relating to the individual job <br />responsibilities. <br /> <br /> <br />
