I I -MEMORANDUM Date: February 11, 1998 To~ Park & Recreation Commissioners From: Linda Waite Smith Phasing In Term Limits on Park & Recreation Commission In 1997, the City Council adopted term limits for members of City Commissions. The limitation is two four-year terms, plus any partial unexpired term that a commissioner is appointed to complete. The Council asked me to work with the commissions to phase in limits so no commission is left without experienced members. The proposal below would provide continuity on the Park & Recreation Commission by ensuring that in any year, more than half the commission members would have more than one or two years of experience. It would not alter anyone's term of office until the year 2002. If you have alternative suggestions, I would be happy to discuss them with you.
