The City is
paying for the County's intersection and are not receiving any significant participation from the
County on the project.

County Commission Berg stated that they made it clear what the County's participation would be
on the project and that amount has not changed.

Councilmember Hendriksen stated that because the cost of the project went up, additional
funding was made available, but the County's share has since gone down now that the County
can receive the federal funding.

County Commissioner Berg replied that the County is still responsible for the $267,567.

Councilmember Hendriksen stated that th~ County is not paying for right-of-way, or engineering
costs for their portion of the project.

County Commissioner Berg questioned if he was inferring the project is a 2 million dollar
project.

Councilmember Hendriksen replied 1.2 million.

City Engineer Jankowski reviewed the engineering costs of the intersection of C.R. #5 and #116.

County Engineer Olson replied that the City is using inflated numbers. The County is going to
contribute what was originally agreed upon.

Mayor Gamec suggested that the County review the numbers with the City Engineer.

Councilmember Connolly stated that she would like the Finance Officer included in the
discussion.

Councilmember Hendriksen stated that assuming the County was going to pay $250,000 which is
now only $50,000, the City would need to come up with an additional 1.4 million dollars which
would make it cheaper for the City to stop the project and place the stoplights where the citizens
requested.

County Commissioner Berg replied that he thinks Councilmember Hendriksen is looking for a
reason to stop the project. He advised Councilmember Hendriksen that it is too late to reallocate
the money to other areas and the region would lose funds.

City Council/November 23, 1999
