OLD TOWN HALL PROJECT

This is a five-phase project. Dean and Glyn Huffwill inspect the building today, January 26,
1999, to see what has been done and what still needs to be done to finish it for possible
rental.

STREET MAINTENANCE FOR NEXT FIVE YEARS

Forty-five per cent of the roads will be due for overlays. It was requested that the
Department keep engineering informed on what areas need attention, since they have the best
knowledge of the road conditions.

CAPITAL EQUIPMENT PURCHASES FOR 1999

· The ten-year plan was handed out for review. The purchases for 1999 are a chassis for the
water truck, a grader, a one ton 4X4 and a snow blower for the skid steer.

There was discussion regarding costs in new vs used water trucks. The bid process is
difficult for sellers of used vehicles:because they have to hold the vehicle until the bid
process is completed.

· It was noted that the I967 Ford Tractor was not on the list for replacement. The reason being
given that services for which the tractor is used might possibly be contracted out.

STORM WATER UTILITY PLAN AND IMPLEMENTATION

It is possible the City will start the maintenance of the city ditches so they will be available
for use in a storm water drainage plan. Recovering the cost might be through a fee-based
system like other city services are charged.

PETTY CASH

The Department will establish a $100 petty cash drawer. The petty cash drawer should be
used for any purchases $20 or less. This will cut the cost of using a minor purchase order
and be more efficient.

EQUIPMENT UPDATE

· Vehicle #600 had the electric plow motor replaced.

· Vehicle #601 had the wing bushing replaced.

· Vehicles #603, 610, 617 and 624 had cutting edges replaced.

· Vehicle #604 had cutting edges and one headlight replaced.

PUBLIC WORKS/JANUARY 1999

I
I
I
I
I

I
I
I

I

I
I:
I'
I
I
I
i
