Mayor Gamec recommended that staff forward the idea to the Met Council so that they are aware <br />of what they are considering. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig thanked the Town Center Task Force and Patrick Trudgeon for their work <br />on putting together the zoning districts. He also wanted to acknowledge the Planning <br />Commission for doing a great job on reviewing the zoning districts. While on the Town Center <br />Task Force there was some discussion about including height restrictions of the buildings and he <br />recalled they did not use density for height restrictions but a eertain amount of linear feet and <br />questioned if that had been addressed. He thought there should be a height range that was <br />associated with the range oft he aerial ladder truck <br /> <br />Assistant Community Development Director Trudgeon replied that at one time they had building <br />heights and actual footage included in the zoning districts, but that language was removed. He <br />did agree that there should be a maximum height included in the zoning districts or a height <br />range. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig recommended that they include the range that would be adequate with the <br />aerial ladder truck. <br /> <br />Assistant Community Development Director Trudgeon replied that he would work with the Fire <br />Chief on the issue and include the appropriate height range. <br /> <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler replied that height is not the only issue setback is <br />also an issue. He stated that he would work out a schematic on allowable height. <br /> <br />Councilmember Pearson stated that the Planning Commission did an excellent job of fine-tuning <br />the language and he commended them for that. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cook stated that he thought that everything was moving along well and thanked <br />staff for all of their hard work. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Zimmerman, seconded by Councilmember Cook, to introduce the <br />Town Center Zoning District ordinance. <br /> <br />Further discussion: Councilmember Elvig stated that he did have some concern with changing <br />the TC-3 area to mixed-use from places to work. He inquired as to what the process would be to <br />make the change. Assistant Community Development Director Trndgeon explained that the <br />current land use is places to work, which is quite broad, but they also have land use designation <br />as mixed use. For the most part the type of places that will go into the TC-3 district will be <br />places to work. Councilmember Elvig inquired if any action tonight was related to amending <br />Comprehensive Plan amendment. Assistant Community Development Director Trudgeon replied <br />no. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, and Councilmembers Zimmerman, Cook, Elvig, <br />Kurak, and Pearson.
