Mayor Gamec
commented on the importance of this position and filling it in a timely manner. Former
Administrative Services Manager Waite Smith stated her current employer has been very
understanding but this is the last week she will be available to help the City of Ramsey.
Councilmember Hendriksen noted that 90% of the work involved 10% of the job description and
he does not think this is uncommon. He agreed that if it is already known which tasks will be
removed from the job description, that should be told to the applicant. He stated his support for
the motion on the floor to hire Ms. Hottinger. Councilmember Haas Steffen stated she agrees
with Councilmember Hendriksen about letting the applicant know up front about the possible
change in job description. She noted there is less movement in job descriptions than in the past.
She stated her concern is removing so many tasks that the employee becomes unhappy with the
position.

Motion carded. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec and Councilmember Anderson. Voting No: None.
Absent: None.

Personnel Committee/February 23, 1999
