ADMIIVISTRA TIVE POLICY <br />RECRUITMENT POLICY FOR RECLASSIFIED CITY POSITIONS <br /> <br />Approved: <br />Effective Date: <br />Page: <br /> <br />April 27, 1999, by City Council <br />April 28, 1999 <br />I of 2 <br /> <br />Policy <br />From time to time, due to a shortage in personnel, increasing mandates and demands for <br />additional public services, the need for temporary status positions to assist with workload <br />may arise. Realizing that in a few cases, Ramsey City Council may determine that some <br />temporary positions require reclassification to regular status, due to a demonstrated need <br />for the increased workload. This policy sets forth general guidelines regarding minimum <br />recruitment efforts for those reclassified positions. The City of Rarnsey is an Equal <br />Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. <br /> <br />Definitions <br />· Regular Full-Time Employee.. A regular full-time employee is defined as a person <br /> who has completed the required probationary period and who is employed on a <br /> regularly scheduled basis of forty (40) hours or more per week. <br /> <br />Regular Part-Time Employee- A regular part-time employee is defined as a person <br />who has completed the required probationary period and who is employed on a <br />regularly scheduled basis for at least twenty (20) hours per week, but less than forty <br />(40) hours per week. <br /> <br />Temporary Employee- A temporar~ employee is a person who is employed by the <br />City who does not satisfy the criteria for a regular full-time or a regular part-time <br />employee. <br /> <br />Minimum Recruitment Standards for Reclassified Temporary Positions <br />In the event a temporary position is approved for reclassification to regular status by City <br />Council, the following information is provided as a guideline for minimum recruitment <br />standards. <br /> <br />When a formal, external advertisement and interview process has been conducted to <br />hire an employee for a temporary position, and the temporary employee is the most <br />desirable person for the newly classified regular-status position based on job <br />requirements relating to skills, educational experience and job knowledge; then, <br />following City Council approval for the regular-status position, the temporary <br />employee may be promoted to the regular status position. <br /> <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br />I' <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />i <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br /> <br />
