Both the employee donating and the recipient must be regular status employees <br /> who have worked a minimum of one calendar year and have successfully <br /> completed probation. <br />5. No employee will be allowed to receive more than 360 hours_of donated vacation <br /> leave for any single serious medical condition, as defined within the FMLA, without <br /> the additional written approval of the City Administrator. <br />6. An employee may donate no more than sixteen (::[6) hours per calendar year to a <br /> single fellow employee. <br />7. Donation of vacation will not be allowed once an employee is judged to be <br /> permanently disabled by the serious medical condition and will not be returning to <br /> work. <br />8. An employee may only receive donation of vacation leave equal to the number of <br /> hours of time compensated by sick leave, vacation leave, or compensatory time <br /> which the employee would lose from their job due to the serious medical condition. <br />9. Donation of vacation leave by City employees will be completely voluntary. No City <br /> employee shall pressure or otherwise attempt to influence a City employee to <br /> donate vacation leave. <br />10. The donated vacation time may be used for illness or injury of the employee only. <br /> A vacation donation request is not extended to an employee to take care of <br /> members of their immediate family. <br />11. An employee is not eligible for vacation-time donation if the employee is eligible for <br /> Workers' Compensation. <br />:~2. Vacation-time donation requests must be made in writing to the City Administrator <br /> on forms designated for that purpose. Requests must be accompanied by <br /> supporting medical data. The requests will then be reviewed by the City <br /> Administrator and will become effective upon approval. <br />13. The City Administrator shall have the right to deny use of donated vacation leave <br /> or limit its use, as shall be determined necessary in the best interests of the City of <br /> Ramsey. <br />14. Donations must be made in increments of one hour. The time donated by an <br /> employee will be converted to the receiving employee's rate of pay to determine <br /> the number of hours that will be received. The dollar amount will be determined <br /> at the time the donation is received. Vacation leave donations will be calculated <br /> using time and not an equivalent cash amount. <br />15. The recipient of donated vacation time shall not accrue sick or vacation leave while <br /> using donated vacation time. <br />16. If the recipient separates from City employment before using all of the donated <br /> vacation time, the remaining donated time may not be converted to cash <br /> severance pay.
