He explained that the County will notify candidates of signs that have been placed in a
location by error and give them time to remove the sign.

Community Development Director Sherman stated that there were public safety issues with the
campaign signs so in order to be fair, staff sent someone out to measure the location of the signs
and if any were in violation, they were removed. Ms. Sherman also noted that a letter was sent
out to all candidates on the sign placement requirements and given time to remove signs in
violation.

City Administrator Norman stated that they were simply carrying out the rules of the City and if
Council feels they need to change the ordinance then Council should make a recommendation.

Councilmember Hendriksen stated that Parade of Home signs and Real Estate signs aren't
enforced.

Mayor Gamec gave direction to have the Planning Commission review the sign ordinance.

Motion by Councilmember Hendriksen and seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman that City
staff should respond to a sign complaint by informing the candidate of the location of the sign in
violation and give them a certain amount of time to remove the sign.

Further discussion: City Attorney Goodrich questioned how much time will be given to remove
the sign. Director of Public Works Kapler suggested 48 hours. City Attorney Goodrich
questioned if signs could be placed on City property.
