RAMSEY FIRE DEPARTMENT
BODY SPECIFICATIONS

There shall be a removable bulkhead that extends from the side of the body to the inside edge of
the rear hinged doors, installed on the back wall of each rear side compartment to protect the
wiring associated with the rear lights. There shall be an electrical junction panel behind each
bulkhead with a permanently mounted template behind the connectors to identify each circuit.

All connections subject to moisture or exposure shall be Deutsch environmentally sealed
connectors. All other connections shall be made using Packard interlocking connectors, lugs, or
terminals mechanically secured to wires.

Engineered Pre-fabricated modular design wiring harnesses shall be used. The wiring harness
shall be composed of high temperature (280 degree) copper, multiple strand SXL cross link
coated wire designed to carry 125% of the maximum current for which the circuit is protected.
The wire shall be of sufficient size so that voltage drop to any electrical device shall not exceed
10% of the system voltage. All wires shall be color coded, numbered and function coded for
ease of maintenance. Function and number codes shall be repeated every 3" along the wiring.
All circuit numbers shall begin with an identifier to indicate the wire was installed by the body
builder. Spare circuits shall be included in the harnesses to permit the addition of components
not identified at the time of manufacture. Each harness shall have a tag displaying the part
number and revision used to identify the harness.

All wiring to be protected with automotive type corrugated loom, braided fabric loom, or PVC
conduit.

'Colored as-built wiring harness drawings, colored as-built electrical schematics, and a master
circuit list of each electrical circuit that the apparatus builder installs shall be furnished in the
delivery manuals. These schematics must show the electrical system broken down into separate
functions, or small groups or related functions. Each single sheet schematic shall show an entire
electrical function of a small group of related electrical functions in their entirety. Schematics
shall depict circuit numbers, wire colors, electrical components, harnesses, and connectors from
beginning to end for each circuit. The use of multiple drawings to trace an electrical function
will not be accepted. A single drawing for all electrical circuits installed by the apparatus builder
will not be accepted.

The chassis cab, engine and transmission, and apparatus body are to be completely bonded to the
truck frame with braided ground straps.
