Councilrnember Haas Steffen stated ths~ residents have contacted her about this. Mayor Gamec noted that the City has asked residents to work as a neighborhood group and there are some matching funds available from the charitable gambling fund. Case #11: Consider Appointment of Mayor's Recommendation for Community Center Task Force Mayor Cxamec recommended that the following be appointed to a Community Center Task Force: Councilmember Haas Steffen; Michael Roll, Ramsay Park and Kecreafion Commissioner, Tom LaMere, Pomsey Park and Recreation Commissioner, Lon Helgemoe, Northland Security Bard<; George Steiner, resident; and Chris Dempsey, resident. Mayor C_nunec recommended such a task force include representation from a variety of interests and demographics throughout the community with Councilmember I-has Steffen chairing the meetings. He stated that he would like seven members but this will give a start to this Task Force. Motion by Councilmember Beyer and seconded by Councilmember Beahen to ratify the Mayor's recommendations for appointment to the Ramsey Community Center Task Force as indicated above. Motion Carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Bayer, Beahen, Haas Steffen and Zimmerman. Voting No: None. Case #12: Report from Personnel Committee 1) Authorize Creation of Volunteer ]public Safety Aide Unit Administrative Services Manager Wake Smith advised that a Brief Personnel Committee meeting was held to consider this issue but she is not sure what the pleasure of the Committee is. Mayor Game¢ stated he knows this is something of interest and he believes it is a trial basis and important to get started, lie asked when the corporal position would be added to coordinate this program. Mayor C:ramec stated this may take quite a bit of time to coordinate and the volunteer work is available to start in October but it may be a year to two years to get people into that ,program. I-Ie stated that he believes this i,s a good program which will get more volunteers involved but someone has to be in charge of tr.
