Commissioner Droegemueller stated that Ramsey is limited by land availability. He added that, <br />due to the moratorium, many land purchases have been postponed. <br /> <br />Ms. Casey asked if the Park and Recreation Commission schedules parks for sporting events. <br />Mr. Kapler replied that no, City Hall currently schedules these events. <br /> <br />Commissioner Droegemueller added that City Hall has handled sports scheduling for ten years. <br />Ms. Connolly asked how long this scheduling will continue and whet}~er it is the best method. <br />Commissioner Droegemueller replied that there is no alternative plan at this time. <br /> <br />Ms. Casey asked how could 900 baseball players expect to be accommodated with limited field <br />space. <br /> <br />Commissioner Droegemueller replied that all 900 players are not on fields at the same time; <br />sporting evehts are staggered and scheduled accordingly, using resource management. <br /> <br />Commissioner LaMere asked whether sports associations such as R.Y.A.A. communicate with <br />~ach other regarding scheduling sports events. <br /> <br />Mr. Morris replied that tiffs has been a problem as far as decreased participation in R.¥.A.A., <br />while sports teams have grown. He said that because of this growth, R.Y.A,A. has merged with <br />A.A.B,A,, but there hasn't been a lot of shared communication. <br /> <br />Commissioner Droegemueller stated that he participates in A.A.B.A. <br /> <br />Ms. Casey stated that R.Y.A.A. doesn't receive representation for all sports, and has requested <br />this from A.A.B.A. <br /> <br />Commissioner LaMere replied that the City often gets caught in the middle of these types of <br />conflicts, and then the focus on children can be lost. <br /> <br />Ms. Casey stated that the merger between sports associations hasn't been reflected in baseball. <br /> <br />Commissioner Droegemueller replied that baseball was only present in Ramsey, and not in Anoka. <br />He added that River's Bend Park was used but couldn't be policed. <br /> <br />Ms. Connolly asked about the expansion of Central Park as far as soccer fields.
