She said that Emerald Park cost $35,000, and that Peltzer Park cost $26,000. The total of this <br />proposed park could be between $40,000-$70,000. <br /> <br />Ms. Casey asked how much and what type of manpower would be needed to build this park. <br /> <br />Acting Chair Johns stated that financial support is needed first, and that discussion of labor <br />requirements hasn't taken place yet. .L <br /> <br />Mr. Kapler asked if local contractors could be asked to do some work- Anoka Electric, for <br />example. ~ <br /> <br />Acting Chair Johns asked for other names to compile a contact list. <br /> <br />Ms. Connolly suggested that more help would come forth if there would be recognition for <br />efforts. <br /> <br />Commissioner LaMere stated core user groups of the park need to be identified, such as Lions, <br />R.Y.A.A., and others. <br /> <br />Mr. Morris suggested snowmobile clubs and Scouting groups as users. <br /> <br />Ms. Connolly suggested vintage auto clubs as those which would provide support. <br /> <br />Commissioner Asfahl suggested school groups as both users and supporters. <br /> <br />Ms. Connolly said high school students often need to accumulate volunteer hours. She added <br />that the business community could possibly provide a plaque for supporter recognition. <br /> <br />Acting Chair Johns suggested that Mark Boos could notify the Mayor and City Administrator Jim <br />Norman of this project for the Business Appreciation Golf Tournament. <br /> <br />Commissioner LaMere asked if City Council would need to approve notification to the Mayor <br />before the Commission proceeds. <br /> <br />Mr. Kapler agreed with seeking City approval as a courtesy. He then asked if seeking $24,000 <br />(as a matching git~) from businesses is realistic, and if more could be sought. <br /> <br />Acting Chair Johns stated renditions of playgrounds ranging from $40,000-$70,000 would be <br />presented. <br /> <br />Commissioner Droegemueller stated that there are many new businesses in the community, and <br />that perhaps contributions would be small at first.
