Currently if you purchase NetWare <br />4.11 you qua!ify for the free upgrade to NetWare 5.0 when release this fall. NetWare 4.11 <br />allows distributed printing, and year 2000 compliance. Estimated costs for a 50-user <br />upgrade: $2,047. <br /> <br />3) <br /> <br />Purchase Arcserve 6.0 and a HP Surestore DAT 2400e drive. This backup is a file server <br />based backup with the ability to report to LOGIS the status of the nightly backups. <br />Estimated cost; $2,197. <br /> <br />4) <br /> <br />Purchase GroupWise 5.5 to replace MSMail software in use. The current MSMail software <br />is not year 2000 compliant and GroupWise allows full Intemet Email, scheduling and <br />remote access. Estimated Costs: $2,028. <br /> <br />Personal Computers. <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />Replace the current 486 and' 386 PCs to Compaq Deskpro Pentium II 300 MHz <br />processors with 3.2 GB hard ddves and 64 MB of RAM, Intel Pro 100 Mb network card, <br />CD-ROM and sound card, and a NEC 15' monitor. Estimated costs: $1,571 each PC or a <br />total for 13 PCs is: $20,423. <br /> <br />2) Upgrade all existing Pentiums to 32 Meg of memory and install Windows 98. <br /> <br />3) <br /> <br />Upgrade all Microsoft Office products to Office 97 and setup the software on upgrade <br />protection. Note: A total count will be needed for the office suite currently owned. <br />Upgrade protection can be purchased for existing suites, which would give the city the <br />newest release and allow for a full year of releases. This method would be more <br />affordable then purchasing the upgrades alone. <br /> <br />4) Purchase Reflections software for all PCs connecting to LOGIS applications. A total count <br /> is needed to supply a cost. <br /> <br />5) Create a standard desktop on all upgraded PCs. This standard should have the same <br /> applications, look, printers, and functionality. <br /> <br />Training. <br /> <br />1) Arrange and schedule LOGIS application training. <br /> <br />2) Arrange and schedule Office 97, V~ndows 98, and GroupWise training. <br /> <br />The next step is to define priorities to the items listed above, the following is a list of projects by pdodty: <br /> <br /> 1) Physical network requirements.
