5.) How are they benefiting? <br /> <br />Adults with developmental disabilities and/or their <br />guardians have indicated that services received by Arc <br />helped to maintain or increase opportunities to be active <br />participants in their community. <br /> <br />Activities to include People First Self Advocacy group - <br />monthly meetings, special events, metro-wide conference, <br />annual Holiday Party. Individual advocacy to help resolve <br />problems or increase leisure opportunities. <br /> <br />Families report that the Toy and Adaptive Equipment Lending <br />Library was easy to use and had toys and equipment available <br />that met their individual needs and <br /> <br />Through the use of toys and equipment, children will learn <br />new strategies or skills to help them increase motor, <br />speech/language, and cognitive development. <br /> <br />Maintain adequate supply of toys and increase supply of <br />adaptive equipment to meet individuals needs addressed by <br />families. <br /> <br />6.) How many persons are low income? <br /> <br />We estimate that 20-40% of the families participating in Arc <br />programs and services are iow income. 100% of adults with <br />developmental disabilities are under-employed and iow <br />income. <br /> <br />III. Project Duration <br /> <br />A. Is this a one, two, or three year project? <br />B. <br />The duration of the project will be dependent upon the <br />participants in the program. We initially plan a one year <br />project that would be continued based on need. <br /> <br />B. Give Project termination date. <br /> <br />The project is and will be on-going to serve the needs of <br />individuals with developmental disabilities, their families <br />and concerned members of the community. <br /> <br />IV. <br /> <br />If the project is more than one year, detail the <br />project activities by year. <br /> <br />The project length and focus will be determined by the <br />families and individuals that participate in the project. <br /> <br /> <br />
