!~ommuni _ty Emergency Action Program (CEAP.I <br /> <br />$2,000.00 <br /> <br />In the last 10 years, CEAP has distributed over $61,000 in financial assistance to 55303 <br />residents. Financial services are limited to prevent dependency. In 1996 for the 55303 <br />area, $7,285.00 was distributed in the four financial assistance categories. Sixteen families <br />received shelter related financial assistance for a total of $4,420.00. Ten families received a <br />total of $117 for transportation/gas vouchers to seek employment, for instance. Eighteen <br />families received $1,327.00 for utility (gas, electric, water, phone) assistance in crisis <br />situations. Ten families received a total of $1,421.00 in the special needs area which <br />includes such items as medical prescriptions, work uniforms, school supplies, car repairs, <br />and daycare services. Also in 1996, 336 trips to the food shelf were made by 55303 <br />residents. <br /> <br />Northw¢st Suburban Kinship <br /> <br />$2,500.00 <br /> <br />Four youth within 3 family units were served in 1996. Commitments to participation in the <br />Kinship program generally mn longer than one year. <br /> <br />Family Life Mental Health Center <br /> <br />$5,000.00 <br /> <br />The application indicates that 36 to 44 of the low to moderate income families served are <br />Ramsey residents. Seventy percent of the cases are serious, persistent mental illness <br />situations that limit their ability to function independently, or with their family or <br />employment. The other 30% of the cases consist of behavioral problems or marriage <br />counseling. <br /> <br />Rise $3,000.00 <br /> <br />Many Rise program participants do not drive or own a vehicle and depend on public <br />transportation. However, public transportation is often not accessible to many or an <br />inappropriate option for the disabled. Rise has been transporting persons since 1983 and <br />today transports over 250 persons to their jobs daily. Nine Ramsey residents benefitted <br />from various Rise programs in 1996, 4 of which received transportation benefits. <br /> <br />Arc .$1,500.00 <br /> <br />The funds are intended to help fund the implementation of 6-12 meetings of a support <br />group and 2 workshops for parents and guardians of individuals with developmental <br />disabilities. The group meetings and workshops would be held at a church in Ramsey. By <br />zip code, Arc indicates that 15 adults get one on one service and approximately 5 families <br />use the toy library. <br /> <br />ACCAP Senior Outreach <br /> <br />$2,785.00 <br /> <br />Senior Outreach serves iow and moderate income seniors and disabled adults by assisting <br />them in obtaining help through food programs, health services, energy assistance, and <br />crisis home repairs. They are requesting funding for the Outreach Worker assigned to <br />Ramsey.
