10.

11.

Park and Recreation Commission--What are your observations of the City of
Ramsey's park and trail system? If appointed to the Park and Recreation
Commission, what area or topic would you personally like to improve upon?

Park and Recreation Commissioner: Maybe redirect the last part to say
"What area or topic is of most interest to you and how would like to be
involved in improving this area?" Or "What area or topic is of most interest
to you and how would you suggest we improve in this area?"

Good communication is essential to the work of the commission. What are your
greatest strengths as a communicator?

What do you think is the most difficult part of being a commissioner?

Planning Commissioner: Again, this is a question that cannot expect
similar responses from experienced and inexperienced candidates and
therefore would be difficult to evaluate. I think such questions ought to
have alternate phrasings depending on the candidate's experience or non-
experience.

Consensus by Park and Recreation Commission: Looking for an
understanding of prioritizing, working within a limited budget and
managing through controversial topics.

Questions Recently Recommended by Planning Commissioners

In your opinion, what is the role of the [ ] Commission in the City of Ramsey?

Consensus by Park and Recreation Commission: In general, I like this sort
of question, but think it needs to be understood that we are an advisory
commission, and make sure that the candidate is comfortable with that
role. I've seen frustration before with commissioners who want to be the
"final word" and aren't as flexible in going with the flow and redirecting
their energy.

What experiences have you had that would help you do the work of the
Commission?

Consensus by Park and Recreation Commission: Helpful question. The
city has grown to a point where we should be seeking experience so that
commissioners can hit the ground running.

Have you ever volunteered for a service committee?

Consensus by Park and Recreation Commission: I think this is a good
question to assess their experience. This isn't a deal breaker, but it
certainly tells us if they have the experience to make a more immediate
impact on our commission or if there will be a learning curve.

4.
