Voting No: None.

The public hearing closed at 9:02 p.m.

Council Action

The regular meeting of the City Council was called back to order at 7:02 p.m.

Councilmember Kurak inquired if she was mistaken that the people impacted by the Fluorine
Street project were more concerned about the connection of the road rather than the street being
paved.

The residents responded that was correct.

Councilmember Kurak stated that she would agree with keeping the road a cul-de-sac. Ms.
Kurak inquired on the Pondvale project was the sewer line coming from the north and did the
project rely on the Helium Street project.

Assistant Public Works Director Olson replied no.

Councilmember Kurak stated that she could agree with not connecting the streets and then taking
the easements necessary to put the pipes underground and then wait until the future development
of the property. That would take care of the Pondvale issue, but still have the availability of
sewer and water. She inquired if the Pondvale development was mostly concerned about road
connectivity.

The residents replied yes.

Councihnember Kurak stated that if the cul-de-sac issue is the only thing from keeping the
project from moving forward she would go ahead with the cul-de-sac if the rest of the project can
proceed forward. The other area of concern would be if the fire department could turn their
trucks around in the cul-de-sac.

Ms. Stamen inquired if there was a general size requirement for the construction of a cul-de-sac
and if the cul-de-sac needs to be increased in size couldn't that be done since the residents are
willing to give their property for the cul-des-ac.

Assistant Public Works Director Olson replied that that is something that could be done.

Ms. Stamen inquired if it was feasible that the staffwould come back to them with another plan.

Mayor Gamec replied that staff cannot do anything without the direction of the City Council.

City Council/August 12, 2003
