The City <br />would like to accelerate the schedule of this project from the year 2002, to as early as next year if <br />possible. He presented a draft letter written to the County Engineer requesting same. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Haas Steffen and seconded by Councilmember Beyer to authorize <br />that a letter be sent to Anoka County relating to the request of accelerating the C.R. #116 <br />extension project. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Haas Steffen, Beyer, Beahen and <br />Zimmerman. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />3) Consider Revision of Snow and Ice Control Policy <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski reported that the Road and Bridge Committee discussed revising the <br />snow and ice control policy from an eight-hour clean-up time to a four-hour clean-up time. <br />Consensus of the Committee was that the cost was substantial and there is no further action or <br />discussion necessary at this time. <br /> <br />4) Update on Traffic Circle <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski stated that there have been problems with vandalism with regard to the <br />traffic circle at 149th and Peridot. The circle was placed there to prohibit speeding in the area, <br />however, it was not installed exactly as designated. It is difficult for the longer wheel base <br />vehicles to maneuver around the circle when traveling westbound, therefore, staff and the Road <br />and Bridge Committee recommended moving the circle three feet to the south. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued relating to what should be done with the circle. The Public Works Supervisor <br />has expressed concern about difficulty of snow plowing in the area. He also feels it's a safety <br />hazard to have it there. Them have been a couple of accidents in the area and staff has logged <br />about eight hours of overtime due to fl~e traffic circle which includes repair following some <br />vandalism, etc. <br /> <br />Consensus of the Council was that the residents in the area of 149th and Peridot should be <br />notified that the traffic circle will be discussed at the December 9, 1997 Council meeting, and <br />these people are invited to attend and give input. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec recessed the Council meeting at 9:02 p.m. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec reconvened the Council meeting at 9:07 p.m. <br /> <br />5) Consideration of Replacing Chapter 8.30 of City Code (Sewage Disposal Systems) <br /> with Minnesota Rules Chapter 7080 <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski reported that the State is mandating that cities bring their sewage <br />disposal systems ordinances into conformance with the State's Chapter 7080 by December 31, <br /> <br />City Council/November 25, 1997 <br /> Page 7 of 10 <br /> <br /> <br />
