ORDINANCE #96-XX CITY OF RAMSEY ANOKA COUNTY STATE OF MINNESOTA AMENDMENT TO CHAPTER 2 OF THE HOME RULE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY WHICH CHAPTER 2 IS ENTITLED "FORM OF GOVERNMENT" The City of Ramsey Ordains: SECTION 1. AUTHORITY This Ordinance is enacted pursuant to Minnesota Statutes {}410.12, Subd. 7. SECTION 2. The following official summary of Ordinance g96-XX has been approved by the City Council of the City of Ramsey as clearly informing the public of the intent and effect of the ordinance: It is the intent and effect of Ordinance g96-XX to amend the term limit for mayor from two years to four years commencing with the election in the year 2000. SECTION 3. .A. MENDMI~.NT Section 2.3. of Chapter 2 of the Home Rule Charter of the City of Ramsey is hereby amended to read: Section 2.3. Council Composition and Election. The council shall be composed of a mayor and four councilmembers who shall be qualified electors and who shall be elected at large. Councilmembers shall serve for a term of four years and/or until a successor is elected and qualifies. The mayor shall serve for a term of two years and/or until a successor is elected and qualifies. Commencing with the election in the year 2000, the mayor shall serve for a term of four years and/or until a successor is elected and qualifies. SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE This Ordinance shall become effective ninety (90) days after its passage and publication, subject to the provisions of Minnesota Statutes {}410.12, Subd. 7.
