JOINT POWERS AGREE/4ENT BETWEEN THE <br /> CITY OF AI{OKA AlqD THE CiTY OF RAMSEY <br />FOR T~E SUPPLY OF MIIlqICIPAL WATER SERVICE <br /> TO PORTIONS OP THE CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> <br /> THIS AGREEMENT is entered into between the City of <br /> Anoka, Minnesota, and the City of Ramsey, Minnesota, on the <br /> I~~ day of m~C~.~O~-<~, 1995. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, both Anoka and Ramsay own and operate <br /> municipal water systems for the purpose of providing <br /> municipal water service to their citizens, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Cities of Anoka and Ramsey are adjacent <br />and the water systems are in close proximity at the West <br />boundary of Anoka and the East boundary of Ramsey, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Anoka has reserve municipal water <br />system capacity beyond that which is currently needed to <br />supply its peak day demand, and the City of Ramsay has an <br />expanding customer base which has exhausted Ramsey's <br />municipal water system capacity, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it would be in the best interests of both <br />cities to cooperate in providing municipal water service to <br />portions of the City of Ramsey and providing Ramsay with a <br />secondary emergency water source, by utilizing Anoka's <br />excess capacity, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, such cooperation will provide revenue to Anoka <br />and postpone the need for Ramsey to spend substantial <br />amounts to expand its water system capacity. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, Anoka and Ramsey, pursuant to the <br />authority contained in Minnesota Statutes, Section 471.59, <br /> <br />900101 ~.aor-wa~'~l 'i -8-96 <br /> <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> i <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />i <br />I <br />! <br />I <br />i <br /> <br /> <br />
