It was also suggested that stop signs should be installed. The locations requested appear to be at
either end of 171st. Each installation has a $150 cost. This street has lower traffic volumes at 85
vehicles/day than all but a few of our streets. Ordinarily, it would not appear that a stop sign is
warranted here. However, the Road and Bridge Committee has expressed a recent desire to
provide for neighborhood requested signage.

Speed limit signs below 30 mph were mentioned by the City Engineer as not meeting MnDOT
requirements. The additional patrol was a reasonable suggestion but we cannot deal/cate an undue
amount of time to any particular neighborhood. Further, that
stop signs be installed at 171st and Bison and 171st and Zeolite. Finally, that staff be directed to
install speed bumps in the locations noted above.

Motion to direct that the funding for the above actions be taken from the Council Contingency.

Reviewed by:

City Administrator
City Engineer

CC: 09/24/96

Copies also distributed to:

Police Chief
Public Works Supervisor

/jmt

I
I
I
I
I
I
I

I:
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
