shift. The officers will continue to be assigned patrol duties in addition to the administrative tasks. Councilmember Beahen asked when the assignment takes effect. City Administrator Schroeder stated that the temporary assignment took effect November 8, 1996, and is expected to continue for approximately eight weeks. City Administrator Schroeder further noted that a second sergeant position is funded in the 1997 budget. There has been some discussion about creating two corporal positions rather than a sergeant position. As this report was for the information of the Council, no formal action was necessary. Case #2: Consider Reappointments to City Commissions City Administrator Schroeder noted that the report to the Committee lists members of commissions to be either reappointed or declare a vacancy. Mayor Hardin asked il'there is an attendance record to indicate the number of meetings missed by these members. City Administrator Schroeder responded that while he does not have the records at the meeting, attendance has not been an issue for the Planning Commission or Park & Recreation Commission. Councilmember Beyer suggested appropriate action for those members who have responded in the affirmative in seeking reappointment and address the remaining positions at the December meeting. Motion by Mayor Hardin and seconded by Councilmember Beahen to reappoint David Bawden and Benjamin Deemer to the Planning Commission for another two-year term. Motion carded.
