16. All communications, letters, notices, requests, etc., received by a member <br /> pertaining to the Fire Department, shall be promptly forwarded to the Chief <br /> through regular channels. <br />17. No one, except members of the Department, shall be allowed to ride on the <br /> apparatus at any time without permission of a Fire Department officer. <br /> <br />18. <br /> <br />Personal vehicles, Fire Department apparatus and other Fire Department vehicles <br />when responding to an alarm shall not be driven at a greater speed than can be <br />maintained with safety. When a stop signal is displayed and at other dangerous <br />intersections, extreme caution shall be exercised, the apparatus is to be brought to a <br />complete stop if necessary. Existing traffic regulations shall be strictly adhered to <br />at all times. <br /> <br />19. <br /> <br />In the event of an accident involving apparatus en route to an emergency a member <br />shall be left at the scene of the accident to summon the necessary aid and secure <br />names and addresses of witnesses and other pertinent information. An accident <br />shall be reported through the regular channels on return to the station. <br /> <br />20. <br /> <br />When apparatus en route to an emergency is damaged to such an extent that it <br />cannot proceed, the apparatus shall be immediately reported out-of-service, and <br />necessary aid shall be summoned, names and addresses of witnesses and other <br />pertinent information shall be secured. <br /> <br />21. No public or private vehicles shall be permitted to drive over hose lines. Apparatus <br /> shall not be driven over hose lines when it can be avoided. <br /> <br />22. <br /> <br />Whenever possible, when backing up apparatus there shall be a member at the rear <br />at all times to signal the operator whenever possible. <br /> <br />23. <br /> <br />In the event of any suspicion of arson at a fire, the member shall immediately <br />summon the officer in charge. Under no circumstances shall the premises be left <br />unguarded until the arrival of the officer in charge. <br /> <br />24. <br /> <br />No person, other than members or other duly authorized persons, shall be permitted <br />to enter a building in which a fire has occurred and where the Department is still in <br />charge, without permission of the officer in command. Should permission be <br />granted, the officer in command shall direct a member to accompany the person <br />who so desires admittance and such member shall remain with that person until <br />they leave the building. <br /> <br />25. <br /> <br />Should any loss of property at a fire be reported to a member, every attempt shall <br />be made to recover the missing property; if it is not located, a report of this loss, <br />together with description and estimated value of the lost property, shall be <br />forwarded to the officer in charge. <br /> <br />/t <br /> <br />Page 10 <br /> <br /> <br />
