P-4 - Oxbow District River's Bend~ Shelter and Safety Fences are intended to be accommodated by a $20,000 Park Trust fund~expenditure' The safety fences will be six feet high and extend beyond first base to the south of [ho softball field. On the third base line, the fence will extend from the backstop approximately 3[} feet, due to the occasional use of the left field for soccer play. The shelter will be sited in proximi~, to the play equipment, and should have capability for restrooms. Project ;- Oxbow River's Bend Shelter Year F_ltlt.qli.llg 1997 $ 20,000 - Park Trust $ 20,000 P-5 - Greenland Hills District The 153rd/155th Trail is the beginning of an important east-west travel route. $99,691 is budgeted from S~ate Aid road construction funds for this trail. The path will parallel the road in most areas, but also will swing towards the wetland area accessing picnic sites and opportunities for wildlife viewing. The approximate 50 acre site (including that required for the road) will connect with the ~wetland parks to the south in the Greenland Hills subdivisions. Residents in the Pineview Greenh~nd Hills area will then have direct pedestrian access to 153rd crosstown, the Lake Itasca trail syste~, Central Park, and other destinations. A neighborhood, park will ultimately be needed near Ramsey Boulevard. As in the above item, a different CIP elan shows expenditures for a municipal well and tower in the 1998 time frame. The need for utility infrastructure and parks near this site would be nearly simultaneous for obvious reasons. !Plans referencing the above may provide opportunities for collaborative planning and site work. River District The acquisition of the Outlot in Reilly Estates is shown within this document to-explore the opportunity of ad4ing this homeowner association parcel to the public domain. The property is a point on the Rum River overlooking one of the only true islands in this stretch of river. The near channel is quite l'ocky with good fishing. The site is wooded with excellent passive park development possibilities. The primary owner is a developer with interest in the undeveloped land east of Woodland Green Park. Future park dedication resulting from development of this land (east of Woodland Green) could include the fiverine outlot as well as expansion of Woodland Green.
