Disadvantages:
1. May be difficult to attract a candidate with experience in personnel, supervision and
newsletter tasks.

OPTION ~2 : FILL THE POSITION WITH AN ASSISTANT TO THE CITY
ADMINISTRATOR

This option wouldiprovide basically the same service as the Administrative Services Manager with
additional projectsin other areas as requested. This position could be filled with an applicant from
Stanton job 173 listed below.

Advantages:
1. Higher level of support for the City Administrator.
2. Additional projects.

Disadvantages:
1. The positiOn is already approximately 45 hours per week without any additional projects.
Some job tasks would likely be shifted elsewhere.

OPTION

FILL THE POSITION PART-TIME

This position could be filled with an applicant from Stanton jobs 169 and 170 listed below.

Advantages:
1. Less expensive than a full-time person with benefits.

Disadvantages:
1. It may be ~fficult to attract (and retain) qualified candidates with a part-time position.
2. The organization is operating smoothly with the position being available on a full-time basis
on tasks assigned to the position.
3. Items usually handled by the Administrative Services Manager would need to be handled
by other staff members, generally the City Administrator and Finance Officer.

OPTION ~4

USE CONSULTANTS FOR PERSONNEL ADVICE

This position would not be comparable to any of the jobs listed below. The City would retain a
consultant on a pro~ject basis.

Advantages:
1. The consultant would be chosen based on the area of expertise.

Disadvantages:
I. Consultants are expensive to use and do not provide continuity; once their advice has been
dispensed they are out of the picture.
2. Supervisory, newsletter, budgeting and other daily tasks would be shifted to others.
