Stevell Jaglkowski, PE
City Engineer:
City of Ramsay
15153 Nowth~n Boulevard N.W.
Ramsey, MN ,55303

RE: Requ0st for Proposal for Engineering Services for the Extension of
Sewe~ and Water Trunks to Service Ramsey Elementary School

Dear MI. Janl~owski:

RLK Associates, Ltd. is pleased to submit this proposal for design services for the extension of
sewer and wa~r trunks to service thc Ramscy Elementary School site. The following oudines the
basis of our proposal.

TASK 1 - BASIc SERVICES

A. PreparatiOn of plans and specifications for the extension of sanitary sewer and watermain:

Final design ar!cl, detailed plans will be completed based on the preliminaxy layout and review
comments received fi.om agencies and the City. We will work with the school board and their
engineers to determine the exact service requirements and utility locations within their site. RLK
staffhas recen ~fly complelext utility design for several large commercial and residential sites
requiring this ~s~!me coordination.

It is assumed tl~at RLK Assooiates will work with the City and the effected property owners to
develop a preIi~ alignment prior to any survey work being completed. It appears that from
discussions wi~ City staffthat the property owners will want the City to work around their
preferred align~ ent as such, this information should be known prior to the exact survey alignment
being completeil.

A_~r the prelin!ina~ sanitary sewer alignment is established by the City and the property owners,
RLK Associate~ recommends that thc proposed alignment area be mowed down to facilitate the
predesign surve[g and also the construction staking. Mowing down the tall grass and brash areas
will facilitate tl~c survey phases, and also save thc City money. The survey costs listed at the end
of this proposalS.~ therefore, assume that this prOCess will occur prior to any surveying being
completed.

Plan and profil0 sheets would be completed in accordance to the City's utility standards. Detailed
construction sp~c~ ifications will be prepared based on MN/DOT standard specifications and the
Standard Utilit~ Specifications as prepared by the City Engineer's Association of Minnesota, 1998
edition.
