Motion by Councilmember Zimmerman and seconded by Mayor Gilbertson to table the <br />discussion of the education policy/tuition reimbursement at this time but to place it on as a <br />discussion item at a workshop. <br /> <br /> Motion carried. Councilmembers Zimmerman and Hardin. <br /> yoting No: None. <br />kC~se #5: Wages for Exempt for 1995 <br /> City~A~i~s~ator Schroeder presented wages for the exempt employees for 1995 and <br /> statedXt~at it is basically the same materials the Committee received six/seven months ago <br /> when tl~ exempt wages were considered for 1994. It was suggested we would be <br /> budgeting"f,or wages using the same formula as has been used since 1993. He inquired if <br /> the PersonnM, Committee feels ifs appropriate that the 1994 Council make this decision or <br /> ff it should b~nade by the t995 Council. He also asked if the Personnel Committee <br /> believes the fom~a,t we have been following for the last couple of years is appropriate. He <br /> ~nformed the Co,tree that he has not discussed this proposal with any of the exempt <br /> ~mployees, with the kx~ption of a couple minutes' discussion with C. hief Auspos. <br /> Mayor Gilbertson stated h~had no preference as to who made the deczsion - the 1994 or the <br /> ~I995 Council. x,k,x <br /> :Administrative Services Man~er McAloney stated that when the two-year AFSCME <br /> ~contract settled, she ran a cost 'flteet for 1994 and 1995. Both costings had the same <br /> ipercentage. It shows differently hqw and the reason is because one of the AFSCME <br /> !employees resigned. The number wasXn~t just chosen - it had some relevance at the time. <br />~Councilmember Hardin clarified "soXhad'the AFSCME person not left, the percent would <br />have been the same, to which Ms. mcAlone,~)xr~plied that was correct. <br /> Councilmember Zimmerman stated that there bas been discussion before about pay for <br />~' :efformance.
