!
!

!
!

Where spec~iqc information was not available or the parcel had no
spell:lc prospect, a general land use was assigned to the parcel for
trip development. For these, a trip generation rate based on acres
and 'floor area ratio" was calculated.

Traffic Volumes

Enterprise Park Traffi~ Study
Anoka, Minnesota

Anoka Enterprise Park

For each development parcel, the anticipated number of trips
generated on a daily and peak hour basis were calculated. Since the
capacity of the roadway is established primarily in'the peak hour,
this report is prizr/arily concerned with peak hour trip generation and
distribution.

A trip distribution pattern was also established. This consisted of
general distribution pattern of employment throughout the
northwest metro area and a secondary distribution of traffic to
specific roads to reach the major roadways. As an example, Lund
Industries employee traffic was distributed to the metropolitan area
with the specific trips generated by the parce/distributed to Lund
Blvd., then to Thurston Avenue and finally to a number of other
roadways including County Road 116 or Trunk Highway 10..By
doing fl-ds for each parcel, a total volume can be established at each
intersection within and adjacent to the Anoka Enterprise Park. The
trip calculations for the intersections are shown in Figure A-2 for
Enterprise Park with current specific anticipated development and
general development on other parcels, and Figure A-3 for ultimate
build out of the entire development.

Residential Traffic Volumes

Traffic volumes from the residential area to the east were also
calculated. These' were distributed primarily to Highway 47 or
County Road 116 with little impact on Thurston Avenue. For most
of the types of t-rips generated in the development, a travel pattern
of travelling west to Thurston Avenue, south to Highway 10 and
back east is considerably longer than to merely use Highway 47,
despite some of the traffic and geometric problems along
Highway 47.

Traffic volumes from the Ramsey area will comprise most of the
through traffic on Thurston Avenue. With the existing
discouragement of through traffic on Dysprosium Street and the
current and planned geometrics of the County Road 116 and
I-{/ghway 47 intersect/on, it is not likely that much traffic will divert

A-.~qOKA9501.00
?age q
