from t-Iighway 47 to use Thurston Avenue. The travel time is longer .

Enterprise Park Traffic Study

via Thurston Avenue, and will increase when Ente~rise Park is
totally compIeted. This could be influenced by major changes in the
orientation of Highway 47 and County Road 116 intersection.

The Anoka Hermepin Technical College is located adjacent .to
Thurston Avenue and Highway I0. Much of the traffic uses
Thurs~n Avenue and the frontage rOad to reach the parking areas.
This traffic creates op.':.rational problems at the Thurston Avenue
intersection. Traffic control now favors the movement to and from
the college, but will change with tr~ 6qc growth on Thurston Avenue.

Highway 10

Traffic volumes on Highway 10 are steadily growing. However, a
long range pa~ern is d~cult to establish because of changes in road
systems. The opening of Interstate 94, the completion of the
Highway 10 bypass around Anoka and the problems and proposed
corus'truCdon of Highway 101 all influence the volume growth_ Table
A-2 and Figure A-4 in the Appendix shows the growth over the past
30 years. 1992 volumes on Highway 10 west of Thurston Avenue are
31,000 vehicles per day.

Future Volumes

The A_noka County Comprehensive Transportation P/an Projected
average daily traffic (ADT) volumes for Flighway 10 in the year 2010
at 32,500 just west of the Main Street interchange. This was
compared with an estimated 1986 ADT of 32,000. Current traffic
volumes are 39,000, indicating that there will be changes in the road
system impacting the volumes on Highway 10. The changes include
Cae completion of Highway 610 from the Mississippi River west to
Interstate 94 in Hennepin Count, the upgTading at Highway 101
from Interstate 94 to Elk River, construction of a new river crossing
bridge near Ramsey Blvd. and completion of several other state and
court ,fy road projects. Figure I6 from the Anoka Plan is reproduced
in the .4.ppendix as Figure A-5.

Future Thurston Avenue Volumes

Future traffic volumes on Thurston Avenue wiLl come from several.
sources. The primary source is Anoka Enterprise Park. P.M..peak
hour "Ultimate Build Out" volumes are shown in Figure A-3.
.Although there is no time line with "Ultimate Build Out," these
volumes should be used since the potential to generate the volumes
exists.

A-ANOKA9501.00

I
I
I
I

I'
I
I
I

I
I
I
I

A_noka, Minnesota

Page 4
