While McKinley Street provides a reasonable secondary access to
Enterprise P~k, it does go through a residential neighborhood.
There are four residential street intersections and several homes with
front yards facing McKinley Street. The inteavsection at Highway 47
will operate satisfactorily, especially for eastbound to southbound
right turning traffic It again is undesirable to introduce any
additional traffic through the reverse curves and across the railroad
tracks along Highway 47.

The current concept scheme shows either McKinley Street or
Enterprise Boulevard tying dkectly to McKinley Street and the
reside, atial area. It may be better to create an internal loop of
McKinley Street and Enterprise Boulevard, similar to the Lurid
Boulevard loop c'ormection with McKinley Street west of Thurston
Avenue. McKinley Street from Highway 47 can then "tee" into the
loop within Enterprise Park. This makes it somewhat less likely to
attract traffic, although the opportunity exists for traffic to still u~Ib.,~
it. At least it would not look like it is desigr~ed for industrial traffic.

There should be little impact on any of the other residential streets
between Enterp ..rise Park and Highway 47. Weaver Boulevard offers
no advantage over use of McKinley Street, even if it is recorffig-ured
at Enterprise Boulevard or Industry Avenue. Little traffic is
anticipated to use Weaver Boulevard. Similarly, the north/sou, th
streets do not offer any advantage to traffic circulating in the
Enterprise Park area. They are likely to have no additional tr~affic
from Enterprise Park. The 'traffic coming from the residential areas
will be somewhat affected by the volume of traffic ~n Enterprise Park,
but primarily at major intersections in the area along County Road
116, Highway 47 or Highway 10.

Industry Avenue (County Road 116)

The intersection of Thurston Avenue and County Road 116 will be
busy in the p.m. peak hour. Primary, concern are the 418 northbound
left turns ant/cipated at ultimate build out. Most of ~e other'
volumes are relativelv low and the tums can be made without
sig-n, ff-icant opposing traffic.

Future traffic volumes on County Road 116 are forecasted only to
~row from approximately 2.500 to 4,500 based, on the Anoka County
Transportation Plan. Based on that plan and the volumes forecasted
from Enterprise Park, it does not appear that a traffic signal wig-be
needed. A four-way stop si~n traffic control may be needed in the
future depending upon volume growth and delays.

Enterprise Park Traffic Study

A-ANOKA9501.00

I
I
I
I
I

!
I

I
I
I
I
I
I

Anoka, Minnesota

Page 6
