This facility will be located in the new Business Park 95, currently being
developed east of St~nfish Lake Boulevard N.W. The new facility was made possible through the eo-
f n,~
operation o Carbo .Product Technology, Sharp Construction, and the City of Ramsey. "This is one
of the pieces to complete the redefinement of Ramsey's commercial/industrial area evidenced by the
new Wendell's, Inc. ~nd Detail Tool and Engineering facilities," stated Mayor Glen Hardin. He further
added that this trend~ill continue with the development of the Anoka Electric Cooperative Headquar-
ters and the AEC Ertergy Park.

Carbon Product,Technology is a seven-year-old company that provides carbon/graphite electrode
blanks used in the eleCtrical discharge machining process. The company was born from Jim DeLally's
observation of the handling of graphite and carbon at machine shops and injection molding process.

What Jim noticed was that one of the most hated jobs at these shops was the handling of graphite
and carbon blocks. ~nis was due to it being a dirty and dusty job that the shops were not equipped to
handle. Jim decided that the process could be made cleaner and more efficient by creating a company
that provided the blanks for the molds in a pre-cut nature. This new company would be designed with
the correct equipment to allow for the safe, clean, cutting of the carbon/graphite blocks. The company
h as seen steady growt~ from its inception, and projects that this growth will continue well into the future.
"We as a company d~cided that we needed a new, larger facility, as we had outgrown the 5,400 square
feet we currently lea~e in Maple Grove," said Jim DeLally, president of Carbon Product Technology.
"We looked at a few different communities, and decided that the City of Ramsey, with all of its
amenities, was the place to build. This decision was further strengthened by the supportive and 'easy-
to-work-with' City COuncil and staff that we found at the City. We look forward to becoming involved
with the City, and to ibc a strong, positive force in its continued development."

(Mayoral Minute Continued)

This new commercial/industrial growth is combined with the City's continued single-family household
development, which has led to the construction of over 1,200 new homes since 1991. With the average
market value of over 15140,000, the residential tax base of the City has been increased by over $165
million. With the conOnued activities ofapro-acfive City Council, the City should see this strengthening
of the local economy continue into the future.
