to the cul-de-sac at the end of Bowers Drive N.W. and also going north to the trail paralleling
Riverdale Drive N.W. This neighborhood park will be in need of a full complement of active
recreation opportunities, as this is projected to be the only active park in this park district. It is also
in this area where another possible river crossing connecting to the Hennepin parks system exists.

A few lots west of the trails juncture with Bowers Drive N.W., is a drainage easement. This,
along with one about one-half mile further on Bowers Drive N.W., are intended to be developed as
scenic overlooks. There is not space for more than a narrow trail corridor to an observation deck;
but these will be important as mini-rest areas for trail users and to remind and orient people to the
trail's proximity to the river. Ultimately, these two overlooks may need to be fenced. The western
portion of the Mississippi River trail corridor will be behind the existing subdivision on Bowers
Drive N.W. and then west paralleling U.S. Highway gl0 with a connection to the State-maintained
Wayside Rest and on into the City of Elk River's "Riverwalk".

COUNTY ROAD #116 TRAIL CORRIDOR

This trail corridor will be a significant transportation route within and outside the City of Ramsey.
Recreation destinations east of Ramsey include the resources associated with the Anoka High
School, City of Anoka Park on the Rum River, the Bunker Hills Regional Park, Coon Rapids
Dam, Rice Creek Chain of Lakes, and others. Within Ramsey, the most easterly point of County
Road #116 is the 67-acre River's Bend Park. The park functions as a community resource, as well
as a neighborhood park. The north half contains athletic fields, playground equipment, four tennis
courts, trails, and parking facilities. The south half contains a native prairie shelter and fishing
pier. This area of the trail is especially used by commuters. At the trail's juncture with State
Highway #47, one may go north on the Highway #47 trail corridor or south into the City of
Anoka. Moving west, the trail corridor contacts the Dysprosium/Thurston transportation route
with accesses to the Flintwood Terrace and Emerald Pond Parks and points north. West, the trail
is on the City of Anoka side until its contact with Tungsten Street. The corridor follows County
