John Peterson
Oood Value Homes~
Page 2

Another economic ~Spect of tree preservation is disposal. The City requires all tree material to be
utilized down to six inches in diameter. The remaining material may be chipped or burned. If
burned, it will require a burning permit with an application fee of approximately $25 plus a fee of
$5 per cubic yard. iAdditional)y, demonstrated tree preservation success can enable the City to
waive the ptacemen[ of an approved two-inch tree on those lots with existing trees.
Thc final general issue relative to the landscape plan is,oak wilt. Chestnut Ridge's peninsula is
identified as an oak Wilt infection center on State and Cit) maps. City Code requires landowners to
control oak wilt in flae City's Disease Control zones (all areas within the MUSA and all PUDs).
Fortunately, the Ci~ was successful in procuring federal dollars to cost share oak wih control
work. Public av,,al'encss of oak wilt has increased, and developers report that having the
subdivision evaluatekt_' or control work done is nearly essential for sales of lots with oaks.

The oak wih assessrgent ma), find the disease already under control which, of course, would mean
the above requirerrients would be fulfilled and, consequently, prospective buyer's concerns
allayed.

Enclosed for your information is "Protecting Trees from Construction Damage". "Fnis document
will be an exhibit to your development a~eement. The City urges you to review it and provide
copies to alt ),our contractors.

Please call me for cl~'ification on these matters or to set up a meeting to discuss the details. You
may reach me at my !,direct dial number of 427-1741, or at City Hail, 427-1410.

Enjoy your holidays!

Sincerely,

CrTY OF RAMSEY

Mark Boos
Parks/Utilities Coordinator

CC:

Ryan Schroe~er, City Administrator
Steve Jankowsld, City Engineer
Bruce Bacon,;,Environmental Specialist
Sylv/a Frolik¢ Zoning Administrator
Joanne Kusl~, Secretary
Park and Re,cation Committee
Project/Subdivision file(s)
