One rome stax'rs at Wood Pond H/ils - iG.'3.'pron S=eet
extended to County Road #11 fi. He stated he looked at two O._k~erent aid~n_ments and three
dhTerent Mi?nments crossing Sunfish Lake Boulevard. He pointed om the wetland'
crossings. The Northern akernadve would have the least impact on wetlands. The
De,aa c~.uent of Nat-m-A Resources ('DNR) felt that sel~rion would de the best. The weftand
would have to be mitigated someplace and he pointed out a counie of a,-cas where
would be oossibie.

City Admqnisu-ator Scbm:w~der stated that the Cit'), has an a~eemenr with Waste Management
of Yfi_nnesor. a, inc. for a hah*-acre to n:fitigate the wetland.

Mr. R_aa ' -nkir2 stated that the Cky would have to justify the need of the Mi~cm.ment to the
DN'R. He added that this road has been proposed since !974. The projected traffic
volumes are 510 units at t0 mpa/unk ocr fi.ay eauMs 5,100 u-ins ocr day. Based on that
earL_mate, the need for this route is essential to the development of the area. The o~y
accesses are the local residen~a.i streets and the r~¢ommended m ~ximm-n for dwelling ,units
sew. ed by a local s~reet is between 50 and 75. The proposal is that the equalize pipes for
the weffa.nd crossings would be 72" in diameter and would be al ,a m.Ln Lz ed co.,-mgated metal
pipes. He nroposed that a se~es of six mr>es be mstMled. %ne cost of the pipe work plus
the ~figa~ion cost would be about S)~.000. For Alternate 2A, the pipes wbuld be
e~iminzted but the cost of the wetland rmfigauon wo~d be more. He stated that z bridge
could be buik, however, the cost would be between S400,0O0 a_nd S500,000, ma.khng it not
feasible.
Road and Bridge/January 18, ~99~
