this alignment is approximately .80 acres. A permit to alter the wetlands will be obtained <br />from the DNR prior to the construction of the project. This will be in addition to the <br />permits listed in Item B that wilt be acquired. As part of the permit, the City will have to <br />mitigate the loss of the wetlands. The contractor will be required to comply with an erosion <br />and sedimenI control plan to minimize disturbance of the adjoining wetland areas. Also, <br />the contractor will be required to adhere to a least damage schedule minimizing impacts on <br />wildlife during the nesting season. <br /> <br />Surface Water Quality <br /> <br />Surface water runoff from the project will flow into the wetlands through the storm sewer <br />system. The outlets of this drainage system will include skimmers in retention basins to <br />allow for the removal of silt and suspended solids. The wetlands that do not have a natural <br />outlets wili allow the runoff to percolate into the ground water. Erosion control measures <br />will be adhered to during construction and all disturbed areas will be landscaped and <br />vegetative cover ,:,,ill be maintained to prevent subsequent erosion. <br /> <br />Ak Pollution, Dust and Noise <br /> <br />Dust, air and noise impacts will occur during construction. Dust control measures will be <br />used ,:,,hen needed and hours of construction operation will be limited through contract <br />requirements to minimize noise impacts. The long term impacts on air quality should be <br />positive since the road alignment will reduce travel time on City streets. Noise levels <br />associated with 40 m.p.h, traffic are within acceptable levels. <br /> <br />Fish and Wildlife <br /> <br />Approximately 3.5 acres of wooded cover will be removed for the construction of the <br />roadway. Additionally, another 6.75 acres of grassland will be disrupted. The road <br />project will also impact an additional .80 acres of type IL wetland. With the completion of <br />the project, the City will see a loss of 6.3 acres of various habitats. This will be somewhat <br />offset by the turf restoration within the right-of-way. <br /> <br />Archaeological and Historical Resources <br /> <br />The proposed project has a probability of containing prehistoric archaeological sites. <br />Therefore, an archaeological survey has been completed with a negative finding of <br />archaeological sites. <br /> <br />Parks and Special Resource Areas <br /> <br />Construction of this project will not create an>, adverse impacts on parks or special resource <br />areas. Approximately .80 acres of wetland will be filled. The impact of the action will be <br />m/t/gated. <br /> <br />Roads and Traffic <br /> <br />The average daily traffic (ADT) flows for the area affected by the proposed extension of <br />Sunwood Drive N.W. are estimated to be in excess of 5,000 at the completion of the <br />connection by the year 2010. <br /> <br /> <br />
