MINNESOTA MRT MARKETING TOOLBOX <br />What is MnDOT's Role? <br />MnDOT will lead the process of <br />creating and maintaining complete <br />route and transportation maps. <br />These maps and the MRT logo will <br />be available for other stakeholders <br />to incorporate into their own maps <br />and publications. <br />MnDOT MRT website: <br />www.dot.state.mn.us/bike/mrt.html <br />MnDOT will support marketing <br />partners by providing information <br />on bicycle rights and <br />responsibilities, the Share the <br />Road program and Complete <br />Streets. <br />SUMMARY VISION SETTING <br />MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION <br />(MNDOT) <br />ROUTE MAPS AND LOGISTICS <br />MnDOT is responsible for compiling key route related information <br />such as: <br />Maintaining current maps in a universal mapping format <br />Providing information about the MRT history, establishment, <br />and timeline <br />Supplying fact sheets about the route, such as key distances, <br />elevation changes, latitude, and longitude. (See the MRT <br />Product section for fact sheets) <br />ROUTE CHANGES <br />The MRT route is dynamic and will constantly evolve with new <br />routes, road improvements, and other changes. As the state <br />transportation organization, MnDOT will lead the collaborative <br />process and update route maps. MnDOT will be responsible for: <br />Working with local communities and stakeholders to address <br />route issues and changes and develop standards and guidance <br />Sending notifications of route changes to other local, regional, <br />state, and national level stakeholders <br />MARKETING ROLE <br />MnDOT and Explore Minnesota Tourism, the state tourism <br />promotion office, will share roles in making route maps available. <br />MnDOT's responsibilities in providing access to data involve: <br />Maintaining digital and printable route maps on a user-friendly <br />website. Biyclists should be able to view and print maps for <br />specific areas as needed, and download maps to personal <br />digital devices. <br />Delivering current route maps in a universal mapping format to <br />other marketing stakeholders for inclusion in publications, etc. <br />PROMOTIONAL ROLE <br />Although MnDOT may not be the primary advertising organization, <br />there are many opportunities to elevate and publicize the MRT, and <br />to direct and support other marketing partners.
