MINNESOTA MRT MARKETING TOOLBOX <br />What is Explore Minnesota Tourism's Role? <br />Explore Minnesota has a <br />searchable database of <br />accommodations, events and <br />local links to make information <br />accessible to trip planners <br />SUMMARY VISION SETTING <br />Explore Minnesota Tourism needs a lead time of six to eight <br />months prior to releasing a major marketing campaign. This <br />campaign preparation should occur while signs are being installed <br />so that opening events will take place when the route is fully <br />signed. <br />EXPLORE MINNESOTA TOURISM MARKETING SUPPORT <br />Ideally countless organizations and individuals will advertise the <br />MRT. Keeping the MRT brand uniform and accurate will be <br />challenging with this multi -layered advocacy approach. In addition, <br />stakeholders promoting the MRT may not be professional marketers <br />with an in-depth understanding of the target audiences or effective <br />communication strategies. To help support their efforts, Explore <br />Minnesota Tourism can provide an online marketing toolkit that <br />includes: <br />Official MRT bicycle route Videos <br />maps <br />Twitter/Facebook <br />Trip itineraries updates <br />Digital logos <br />Press release templates <br />Power point presentation <br />templates <br />Organized photo library - <br />sorted by destination <br />area <br />MERCHANDISING <br />Transportation <br />opportunities (shuttle, <br />Amtrak, Jefferson Bus <br />Lines) <br />Mail flyers <br />As the primary marketing organization, Explore Minnesota Tourism <br />can provide official MRT merchandise. Some suggestions include: <br />Water bottles <br />Caps <br />Flashing safety lights <br />Reflectors <br />Shirts/Jerseys <br />Reflective leg straps <br />Window clings <br />Journals <br />Post cards <br />Coffee table books <br />Unique, individual gifts <br />offered by local <br />businesses <br />MRT Passport <br />License plate/name tags <br />Consider that merchandise should reinforce a message.
