PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION
COMMISSION INPUT

There are three separate items to be noted under Commission Input; neither require Commission
action:

Final plat approval is being sought by North Fork Inc. for the Northfork Highlands
Addition.' Park dedication was pre-determined in 1989 at $500.00 per lot which equates to
an additional $8,500.00 for this phase of North Forks development. A related issue, also
pre-determined, was language guaranteeing the provision of "tot lot" space for the City in
conjunction with the final phases of the interior portions of the North Fork Development.

Staff recommends that historical research be done on thir fact and that the Commission
examine this matter at a subsequent meeting. At that time we will need to determine if
densities actually dictate the need for parkland, particularly in view of the Homeowner's
AssociatiOn park in the same vicinity. It is possible that if the land isn't required, the
"worth" of that land could be directed elsewhere.

Ramsey ~sidcnt mad land developer Gerald Bauer is requesting a minor subdivision of a 40
acre parc{1 north of Highway #10 and east of Puma Street N.W. The property known as
the McKignis Homestead will likely be reserved for future development by the developer
and possibly constructed as an urban subdivision. Because the 37-acre piece being split
from the 40 will be titled an outlot, the lot will not be buildable and, therefore, park
dedicatioa is not required at this time.

Attached is the information regarding Northfork Highlands Addition, presented in Council Case
form, and inforrlaation regarding Gerald Bauer's request, presented in Planning and Zoning
Commission Case form.

In the furore, it is quite possible that the City may require a greenbelt or trail corridor along the
railroad tracks. This would also serve as a much needed buffer fi:om the tracks and Highway #10.

3. Attached for your review is the County Parks Agenda for the month of February.

P&R: 2/10/94
