The <br /> !dod 22 parks and open space goals. The goals that relate to the trail system <br /> kted below: <br /> <br />A ~long range Capital Improvement Budget and Program (CIP) should be <br />de,eloped to provide efficient use of park ]and [and trails] to meet the <br />expanding needs of people. <br /> <br />R~reational facilities should be designed to meet the needs of people, <br />esl~ecially at the neighborhood level. <br /> <br />Planning for park [and trail] development, land acquisition and programs <br />should be coordinated with adjacent communities, the school district, the <br />CoUnty, the State, the Department of Natural Resources, and other <br />go~ 'ernmental bodies. <br /> <br />P.' ~-k~s and open space [and trails] should be developed and improved to take <br />m ximum advantage of natural features such as Lake Itasca, Sunfish Lake, <br />Tr ~tt Brook, natural drainage areas, wooded areas, or other significant <br />ph ~sical features. <br /> <br />G~.at effort should be made to preserve land along Trott B~ook to link a major <br />trail system across the City wtfich could eventually. tie in with the Rum River <br />an~t Central Park in the northeast corner of the City. Consideration should be <br />given to implementing this through selected acquisitions, trail easements, and <br />scenic easements as well as park dedications. <br /> <br /> <br />
