Case #5: 00mm~nications Proposals <br /> <br />Mr. Fjerstad stated that four proposals had been received and briefly described the pagers from <br />each proposal. <br /> <br />Mr. Hartley inquired about frequencies to be used for the Fire Department. <br /> <br />Mr. Hoeke stated that he had an appointment with the Anoka County Communications Department <br />next week concerning frequencies to be used. <br /> <br />Mr. Wilson commented that in talking with other departments/members, their preference was <br />Motorolla. <br /> <br />Mr. Hartley asked what the department recommendation was. <br /> <br />Mr. Fjerstad stated that the quote received from Motorolla included pager, charger and case. It <br />was also noted that quote received was same quote given to consortium members. The <br />recommendation from the department is to purchase the Motorolla equipment. <br /> <br />Mr. Hartley recognized the difference in cost of quotes received: <br /> <br /> Motorolla-General Electric $41 6.00 <br /> Nippon Electric Corporation (N.E.C.) $360.00 <br /> <br />Mr. Hartley questioned the reason for recommending Motorolla. <br /> <br />Mr. Bawden stated that quality of both is comparable, and recommended going for best price. <br /> <br />Mr. Sich stated that N.E.C. provided poor service and down time for maintenance/service is <br />important in this type of equipment. <br /> <br />Mr. Wilson commented that Motorolla brand is well known, good warranty and recommended by <br />most departments. <br /> <br />Mr. Fjerstad commented that he is exposed to communications equipment in his employment and <br />that service on Motorolla equipment is unsurpassed. <br /> <br />Mr. LaTour made a motion to purchase the Motorolla Minuter 2 per quote received, seconded by <br />Mr. Wilson. <br /> <br />Motion carried: Voting Yes: Mr. LaTour, Mr. Wilson, Mr. Hartley, Mr. Sich, Mr. Pearson. <br />Voting No: None. Absent: Mr. Auspos, Mr. Spence. <br /> <br />Mr. Fjerstad inquired as to the procedure for the purchase of additional radio equipment. <br />He had received a quote on total package for truck and hand held radios.
