in the Anoka County area. With a local facility to receive unwanted animals, <br />cities should notice an immediate reduction in strays. The facility intends to <br />conduct 4 rabies clinics per year. ~hese kinds of services should reduce the <br />city's cost of animal control. The facility will also be bidding on animal <br />control services to the cities, a fee which will reflect the cost of the <br />service only with no profit. ~hat animal control service will not include <br />patrolling unless there is an ~mergency situation. ~nis request for funds will <br />be a one-time donation and if the city chooses, animal control services can be <br />provided at a reduced rate until the amount of the donation is matched. The <br />donation can be made over a 3 year period. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Cox and seconded by Mayor Heitman to adopt Resolution <br />~86-52 pledging support to the Greater Anoka County Humane Society for the <br />capital development of the proposed animal shelter with a one time grant in an <br />amount not to exceed $5,000.00. (Please refer to resolution file for <br />Resolution #86-52). <br /> <br />Further Discussion: Councilm~nber Reimann inquired as to where the funds will <br />come from as it is not a budgeted expenditure. Councilmember Cox stated that <br />the donation should be offset by the cost savings from current procedures for <br />animal control. Further, to introduce Ordinance #86-3 <br />rezoning that portion of the parcel to B-1. <br /> <br />Further Discussion: Mayor Heitman inquired as to what is currently on that <br />150'. Mr. Muller replied that the 150' is being used as parking area.
