Mr. Hartley stated that the Economic Development Commission has reached the
limit of what they can do to accomplish star city program and promote
economic development as a group of volunteers without operating funds.

Motion by Councilmember Cox and seconded by Councilmember Sorteberg to
reinstate the $18,619 eliminated on October 14, 1986 for Development Intern in
Personal Services to the Economic Development Fund to be used for an economic
development position on a contractual basis; and directing that the $50,000
allocated for economic development uses at the October 14, 1986 meeting, along
with any qualifying CDBG funds, be allocated for use in accomplishing Items 1,
2, 3, 4, 5 and 7 of the Economic Development Company Proposal dated October 6,
1 986.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Reimann, Councilmembers Sorteberg, Cox,
Schlueter and DeLuca. Voting No: None.

5. police Squads -

Mr. Hartley stated that Chief Auspos is requesting two new squads in 1987; the
two vehicles to be replaced have mileage readings of 88,000+ and 100,000+; it
will take 4-5 months for the new vehicles to be delivered. Mr. Hartley stated
that he and Chief Auspos discussed appropriate timing for replacing squads and
agreed it should not be by a standard mileage reading but rather when
maitenance costs become unreasonable and the vehicle becomes undependable. Mr.
Hartley stated that there is also the option to have the car rebuilt but it is
not very cost effective when considering the rate at which the City can buy new
vehicles.

Council agreed to the funds budgeted for two new squads in 1987.

Case #3:

Request For Site Plan Review; Case Of Peter Chalich Truck%D_~.
Inc.:

Mr. Hartley stated that Planning and Zoning is also meeting this evening and
has completed their review of a request for site plan review for Peter Chalich
of Chalich Trucking. Mr. Chalich is proposing to construct a pole building at
8049 146th Avenue N.W.. This property is in the I-1 Industrial District.
Planning and Zoning recommends approval of the site plan contingent upon the
south and east side of the building being brick veneered.

Motion by Councilmember Cox and seconded by Councilmember Sorteberg to approve
the site plan for Mr. Peter Chalich of Chalich Trucking, Inc. for a pole
building at 8049 146th Avenue N.W. contingent upon the structure being brick
veneered on the south and east sides.

Motion carried.
