Rd. #83; therefore, properties on the
west side of Cty. Rd. #83 are not eligible for off-sale liquor licenses. There is interest in
constructing an off-sale liquor store on the west side of Cty. Rd. #83 and the applicants are
requesting that the ordinance be amended so that both sides of Cty. Rd. #83 are considered
to be in the Urban area.

Mr. Hartley noted that a fair amount of commerce has taken place in the subject area and it
might be appropriate to include it in the Urban Area; inclusion does not necessarily mean
there would soon be utilities there but it says something regarding the City's plans for
development of the area.

Motion by Councilmember Peterson and seconded by Councilmember DeLuca to direct
City Staff to schedule a public hearing before the Planning and Zoning Commission to
consider expanding the City's Urban Area to include commercial/industrial zones
contiguous with the existing Urban Area along the Hwy. #10 corridor.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Reimann, Councilmembers DeLuca, Pearson, Cich
and Peterson. Voting No: None.

City Council/August 22, 1989
