Further Discussion: Councilmember Peterson stated that Police Chief Auspos has indicated
that he does not want a computer workstation and given his choice, he would prefer other
items for the Police Department. Mr. Hartley stated that during budget discussions, Chief
Auspos expressed a desire for a typewriter; providing the Chief with a workstation will
continue the development of the City's computer system and address the Chiefs need for a
typewriter. Mr. Hartley stated that he doesn't have anything invested in his
recommendation for 5 workstations other than offering good advice. Councilmember
Peterson requested justification of the Fire Chief's need for a workstation. Fire Chief
Hoeke stated that the workstation would be a tremendous tool for keeping training records,
incident repons, equipment records and maintaining a filing system. Chief Hoeke stated
that he could use a workstation 2 hours per day now and 5-6 hours a day in the future.
Councilmember DeLuca stated that sharing workstations would lead to a breakdown in
department efficiency.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Reimann, Councilmembers Pearson and DeLuca.
Voting No: Councilmembers Cich and Peterson.

The City Council recessed at 9:21 p.m.

Mayor Reimann called the meeting back to order at 9:30 p.m.

Miscellaneous Comments:

Mayor Reimann noted receiving a letter from Ragna Pearson expressing her appreciation of
the City's brushchipping program.

Mayor Reimann stated that the Business Appreciation Day was held on October 2nd. At
the event, Don Greenberg was named the first inductee into Ramsey's Hall of Fame for
contributions to the economic growth of the City. Mayor Reimann then presented the City
with a Hall of Fame plaque to be displayed at City Hall that will honor all inductees into the
Hall of Fame.

Case #8: Keep America Beautiful Annual Convention:

Claudia Dodge was present to review the costs associated with the Make The Scene, Keep
Ramsey Clean Committee's recommendation to send 3 members to the annual National
Keep America Beautiful convention in Washington, D.C. Claudia Dodge estimated
convention registration, air fare, food and 2 hotel rooms for 5 days at $2969.

Council was reluctant to spend almost $3,000 to send 3 persons to the convention but it
was noted that Ramsey is expected to receive national awards for it's accomplishments as a
participant in the KAB program. Councilmember Peterson noted that the cost could be
reduced by sending two persons and having them share a hotel room.

Motion by Councilmember Peterson and seconded Councilmember Cich to authorize
sending two non-City Staff members of the Make The Scene, Keep Ramsey Clean
Committee to the National Keep America Beautiful Convention at a cost not to exceed
$1750.00 for registration, air fare, food and hotel.

City Council/October 10, 1989
