pupil to teacher ratio of 23 to 1. Students attend VandenBerge Junior High School,,.grades 7-9, <br />and then go on to Elk River Senior High School, grades 10-12. The combined enrollment for the <br />two schools is 1,894. The two schools have an average pupil to teacher ratio of 30 to 1. There <br />are also three parochial schools available to Ramsey children in Elk River: St. John's (K-8), <br />St. Andrew's (K-6), and Alliance Academy (K-12) with a combined enrollment of 596. All <br />previous figures determined during July 1990. <br /> <br />The remainder of the City is served by schools in the neighboring City of Anoka, with the <br />exception of the Ramsey Elementary School, which is located within the City limits of Ram.sey. <br />Franklin and Ramsey Elementary Schools have a combined enrollment of 1,298 students with a <br />pupil to teacher ratio of 27 to 1. Sandburg Middle School, located less than three miles from <br />Ramsey, has an enrollment of 931 students, and serves grades 5-7. The pupil to teacher ratio <br />is 22 to 1. Fred Moore Junior High School and Anoka Senior High School have a combined <br />enrollment of 4,116 and a pupil to teacher ratio of 21 to 1. St. Stephen's and Meadow Creek are <br />parochial schools that serve grades K-12 and have a combined enrollment of 898. 48.4% of the <br />seniors graduating from the Anoka-Hennepin School District go on to college. These figures are <br />from July 1990. <br /> <br />The closest center for vocational training is the Anoka Technical Institute. Other vocational <br />technical institutes are also available in the area. The nearest community college is Anoka- <br />Ramsey, located in nearby Coon Rapids. The Twin Cities campus of the University of Minnesota <br />is located 20 miles south of Ramsey. There are also 18 other four year colleges in the Twin <br />Cities area. <br /> <br />PUBLIC SERVICES <br /> <br />The City of Ramsey provides its own Police protection. The force includes 8 officers, a Police <br />Chief, department secretary and a data entry clerk. The department provides 24 hour service, <br />7 days a week. <br /> <br />Ramsey contracts with the Anoka-Champlin and Elk River Fire Departments. As of 1990 the <br />City of Ramsey has a volunteer Fire Department with a force of 24 firefighters. In the future <br />the Ramsey Volunteer Fire Department will be fully capable of handling the fire fighting needs <br />of the entire community. <br /> <br />HEALTH CARE <br /> <br />Ramsey Medical Center, a non-trauma health care facility, is located at 5300-153rd Avenue <br />N.W. and is staffed with two doctors Monday through Saturday. A similar center is the Urgent <br />Care Facility in Coon Rapids located 12 miles away. Mercy Hospital is located 5 miles from <br />Ramsey in Coon Rapids. Emergency medical response time is under 10 minutes. Residents also <br />utilize the .many hospitals in the metropolitan area which are less than a one-hour drive away. <br />Also within the City are two dental clinics and two chiropractic facilities. <br /> <br />LIBRARIES <br /> <br />The City's library is a local branch of the Anoka County Library and offers a wide range of <br />services. Regional libraries are Anoka County Library, Hennepin County Library, and Elk <br />River Library. <br /> <br />HOUSING <br /> <br />Ramsey offers housing in a wide price range. The median sale price of homes in 1990 is <br />approximately $90,000. There are approximately 400 lots without sewer and water and 50 <br />lots with sewer and water available for development.
