Definitions <br /> <br /> Historical Note <br /> 1986 Amendment. Laws 1986, c. 444, § 1, <br />removed gender specific references applicable to <br />human beings throughout Minn.Stats. by adopt- <br />ing by reference proposed amendments for such <br />revision prepared by ~he revisor of statutes pur- <br /> <br />suant to Laws 1984, c. 480, § 21, and certified <br />and filed with the secretary of state on Jan. 24, <br />1986. Section 3 of Laws 1986, c. 444, provides <br />that the amendments "do not change the sub- <br />stance of the statutes amended." <br /> <br />84.82. Snowmobile registration <br /> Subdivision 1. Repealed by I Jaws 1984, c. 654, art. 2, § 155, eff. May 3, 1984. <br /> Subd. Is. General requirements. A person may not operate or transport a snowmo- <br />bile unless the snowmobile has been registered under this section. A person may not sell <br />a snowmobile without furnishing the buyer a bill of sale on a form prescribed by the <br />commissioner. <br /> <br /> [See main volume for text of subd. £) <br /> Subd. 3. Fees for registration. (a) The fee fbr regisWation of each snowmobile, <br />other than those registered by a dealer or manufacturer pursuant to clause (b) or (c) of <br />this subdivision, shall be as follows: $18 for three years and $4 for a duplicate or <br />txansfer. <br /> (b) The total registration fee for all snowmobiles owned by a dealer and operated for <br />demonstration or testing purposes shall be $50 per year. <br /> <br /> (c) The total registration fee for all snowmobiles owned by a manufacturer and <br />operated for research, testing, experimentation, or demonstration purposes shall be $150 <br />per year. Dealer and manufacturer registrations are not transferable. <br /> <br /> Sub& 4. Renewal. Every owner of a snowmobile shall renew its registration in such <br />manner as the commissioner shall prescribe, upon payment of the same registration fees <br />provided in subdivision 3 hereof. <br /> <br /> [See main volume for text of subd. 5] <br /> <br /> Subd. 6. Exemptions. No registration hereunder shall be required for the following <br />described snowmobiles: <br /> (a) Snowmobiles owned and used by the United States, another state, or a political <br />subdivision thereof. <br /> (b) Snowmobiles registered in a country other than the United States temporarily used <br />within this state. <br /> <br /> (c) Snowmobiles covered by a valid license of another state and which have not been <br />within this state for more than 30 consecutive days. <br /> <br /> (d) Snowmobiles used exclusively in organized track racing events. 29 <br /> <br /> <br />
