Mr. Dave Hartley <br />December 1, 1988 <br />page two <br /> <br />demand in the years ahead, RISE must expand its capabilities at <br />locations in Spring Lake Park and North Minneapolis and RISE must <br />develop additional host businesses in the North Metro Area. <br /> <br />RISE's professional staff is capable of meeting the demands for <br />expansion if additional physical space can be secured. The <br />programs developed by RISE have gained national recognition and <br />management has been called upon to consult ~ith similar agencies <br />internationally. <br /> <br />The growing population of local citizens requiring RISE services <br />coupled with its successful and effective programming, has led <br />the Board of Directors of RISE to launch a $1.8 million capital <br />campaign. Funds will underwrite the cost of additional space to <br />serve people with disabilities in Anoka, North Hennepin and <br />Northern Ramsey counties. The board and other community <br />volunteers are actively seeking support from local individuals <br />and businesses, foundations and community organizations. I hope <br />to work with you in exploring the possibilities of the city of <br />Ramsey supporting this local program. <br /> <br />After initially reviewing the guidelines for Community <br />Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding, I believe that RiSE meets <br />the requirements for funding under the Economic Development <br />section.
